How it began

My name is Jacqueline Kimberly Morin. I'm a self-taught artist who has played with acrylic paint and brushes all my life. Since launching my full-time career as an artist in 2018, I have participated in various juried shows, including the Society of Canadian Artists. My first paddle creation was published in a magazine article and this was the inspirational event that kicked my artistic career forward.
My subject matter and medium may vary since I paint what catches my eye and makes me smile. The more I explore, the more my mind flows with ideas. My passion truly lies in The Art of Creating. Each day brings new memories and feelings that recharges my passion to keep painting.

Getting to know me
I grew up in Northern Ontario, as the youngest of 5 children. As a child, I would wake up at night and paint, re-creating photos that I had collected. As a teenager, I built my own bed frame, decorated my bedroom many times over and collected 'How to Build' magazines.
A 20+ year career in business did prove financially rewarding but always seemed to lack something. As my career evolved, I found myself to be the happiest when designing websites. Working with colours, composition and usability, brought back the creative side of me that had been suppressed for so many years.
I find myself on a journey to becoming the artist and creator I have always wanted to be! Call it a pastime, my 2nd career or my calling, but somehow I always knew I'd end up down this path.
Giving back to the arts community is important. At present, I am the Vice President of the East Central Ontario Art Association and Communication and Marketing Lead for A Place for the Arts.

Artist Statement
My paintings are inspired by an image that triggers my emotions; a look or a scene that brings back memories. What I aim to capture in my paintings is that feeling or mood. While I may use wood or canvas as my base, I always paint using acrylics. My process remains consistent. I work each section of a painting two or three times until I feel I have achieved the desired detail. This process evolves over several days. Once completed, I give it a moment to do its thing and grab my attention. My subject matter may vary, each selected to evoke a sense of warmth and joy. Each day brings new memories that fill my passion to keep painting!
